For example, the children we're suppose Soooooooo boring! For example, the children we're suppose to be difficult, yet proved to be angels. She needed a break from people controlling her life, yet at the first sign of trouble, she lets the leading man take over her problems and eventually let's him tell her that she will marry him. For an independent woman, as described to the reader, this went against her character so roughly that I wanted to scream!
And what of all the lectures they give the young 16 year old about her coming out in the season and how to be careful not to fall in love too quickly and to take time The first weekend party they through and she is engaged I agree that expectations are not set high for romance novels, but this one needed a better editor and in its current stage, should never had been published Jan 27, Mandy Hemmings rated it really liked it Shelves: historical-challenge. I always enjoy Anne Herries' books, and this one was no exception! I don't want to give the plot away, but here's a small synopsis. Set during the Regency, heiress Sarah Hardcastle is desperate to escape from an unwelcome suitor.
She therefore assumes a new identity - that of governess Hester Goodrum - and takes a position as governess to two teenagers in the depths of the countryside. However, her pupils' mentor, Lord Rupert Myers, shakes her composure and threatens her masquerade This was a I always enjoy Anne Herries' books, and this one was no exception! This was a very good read - I liked the character of Sarah, even though technically she has done wrong by her masquerade, but the author makes her very likeable for all that.
His Unusual Governess by Anne Herries (Paperback, ) for sale online | eBay
I liked the friendly relationship she developed with Francesca, one of her young pupils - it was quite touching! The hero, Lord Myers, is also appealing - strong and gallant without being overly macho or "alpha male". The story is sweet rather than steamy - there's one love-scene towards the end, but it's not particularly "strong". May 17, Sarah rated it it was ok. Am I finished with this book? Did I finish it? Truth be told, somewhere around page I realized 3 things. Also, there was no unexpected humour that made me chortle out loud, , no scintillating dialogue, no descriptions so beautiful that my breath caught in my throat as I read them. T I felt slightly guilty clicking on the 'I'm finished' button. This book wasn't bad. It just wasn't particularly good. I didn't love it.
And when it comes to romance, you've got to love it, don't you? Wonderfully entertaining, a brilliant read. To escape from unwanted attention heiress Sarah Hardcastle concocts a plan to become a governess taking her out the the pathway of unwanted marriage proposals and directly into the path of the dashing Lord Rupert Myers. Escaping from his latest mistress Lord Rupert agrees to mentor his young cousins and becomes fascinated with the highly unusual and out spoken governess.

With unexpected attraction can these two sort out the unruly children and their hearts before its to late? A must read totally loved this book. Dec 05, Rachel8 rated it it was amazing. The plot is similar, the ending is familiar but I still love it! It holds out well to the end and is not over cheesy. Ok I've read plot much like this from mills and boons with the same typical ending but it was the familiarity that I enjoyed.
If you want something light and easy to read from mills and boons you can't go a miss.
